A Million Reasons To Give
EdUCate! asks for your help in reaching a meaningful milestone this year. We are within reach of awarding our millionth dollar to UC schools! Thus far, EdUCate! has awarded $855,000 for supplemental materials and equipment to be used by classroom teachers in our five public schools. Our average annual donation, over the last five years, has been over $100,000, with a high in 2007 of more than $168,000 in grants, equipment and scholarships! WE can do this, and there are a million reasons to succeed!
Have you ever wondered what teachers really wish they had in the classroom to help them teach your child during their daily activities? Art supplies, athletic equipment, or just a few more pencil sharpeners. Sometimes one simple item can make all the difference in effective teaching.
Now, EdUCate! has made it easy for you to grant a teacher's wish. Click Teacher Wish List and select the school of your choice to read about the various teachers and their wishes.
Honor a Teacher not only raised over $50,000 this past school year, but provided many heart-felt letters of recognition to teachers, counselors and administrators who played a special role in the lives of our children. All educators honored were given a special memento signifying this honor. along with a personalized letter and certificate of recognition. HAT Honorees! (As of 2008)
Don’t let this school year end without having said thank you to a teacher who has helped your child be successful. Now is the time. May 3rd - 9th is Teacher Appreciation Week. Show your gratitude to that special teacher by Honoring a Teacher or by granting your favorite teacher's wish through the Teacher Wish List program.

EdUCate! is thrilled to announce a 2009 grant award of $13,236.80 from the Las Patronas Foundation of La Jolla. This grant will fund ten MacBook Pro laptops for classroom teachers in the University City cluster and will be matched 100% by EdUCate! This grant will help EdUCate! complete our multi-year technology equipment project. We thank Las Patronas for their careful review of our grant application and thoughtful site visit, and promise to use the award promptly for the immediate good of University City students.
Las Patronas has been helping non-profit groups in San Diego County since 1946. They support causes ranging from health, education, and social services to cultural arts. Most funds are raised through their annual Jewel Ball, held in August at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. The Jewel Ball is one of San Diego's pre-eminent philanthropic galas, underwritten by hundreds of area businesses and individual donors, and attended by 850 guests. EdUCate! can only aspire to the longevity, vision, and commitment to community shown by the members and partners of Las Patronas. |
